Logo to premiere Housewives-like reality show “The A-List: New York” on Oct 4
I can’t wait to check this out! Go Logo for launching this show that I can’t help but calling The Gay List instead of The A-List, but I’m guessing that might not be an accident. I’ll have my tub of popcorn ready on October 4th!

In my recent blog post, “Dancing with the Stars Season 11 could be a circus. Who will be the ringmaster?” I named the people that caught my attention. Well, the rumors were all true about season 11′s “Dancing with the Stars” cast except Octomom Nadya Suleman (figures…she only wishes she could land that gig right about now).
Here’s the Season 11 cast:
| LADIES | GENTS |
| Audrina Patridge | David Hasselhoff |
| Brandy | Jennifer Grey |
| Bristol Palin | Kurt Warner |
| Florence Henderson | Kyle Massey |
| Margaret Cho | Michael Bolton |
| The Situation | |
| Rick Fox |
Yes, you read that headline correctly…
ATLANTA (TransWorldNews) — Michael Lohan claims he is set to open up his own drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in California. Lohan, the father of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, says he is still deciding on a location for the center.
“Yes, it’s, true, I’ll be running it. I think it’s time that Dina and I both step out of the media for a while, and for me that means getting back to what I know best — helping people with addiction,” he tells RadarOnline.com.
“But I have my entire team of therapists in place and the financing is done. We’re still negotiating the location,” he claims.
Michael has been very outspoken about Lindsay’s alleged addictions. He most recently claimed she is addicted to prescription medications. Earlier this week, Lindsay, 24, was released from an in-patient rehab facility after completing just over 3 weeks of treatment. She is now participating in an outpatient program. The treatment is part of Lohan’s sentence for violating probation in her DUI case. She also received 90 days in jail, but only served 13 days due to overcrowding.
This past Wednesday, August 25, 2010 marked the ninth anniversary of Aaliyah Dana Haughton‘s (known to fans as “Aaliyah”) death. She was only 22 years young at the time and both her music and acting career was exploding at the time of her death. We’ll never know why our Creator calls some of us home so much earlier than others, but Aaliyah short life has certainly not been forgotten by celebrities and fans alike.
In memoriam of Aaliyah’s sudden and tragic passing 9 years ago, I’m dedicating this week’s Throwback Friday post to her. “Back and Forth” was a song off Aaliyah’s first album “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” (in 1994) and was her first music video.

Tiger‘s now official ex-wife, Elin Nordregen, did a one time “tell all” interview for People magazine. Having remained silent until now, Elin invited People mag into her home on August 15, 2010. Over the course of 4 visits totaling 19 hours of interview time, no photos of the children allowed, the result was a 12-page feature that touted it would answer all unanswered questions and set the records straight, from Elin’s perspective.
Save your $4.49 on a copy of the issue because there was no shocking revelation. Heck, we’re in a recession, right? What I want is the tapes/notes from those 19 hours. That’s where the unscripted, uncensored by lawyers deets remain. Who knows? People, no pun intended, will sell their soul to tabloids. Perhaps something will leak out sooner or later of interest.
I took the $4.49 hit to my pocketbook (it’s a super cute messenger/bohemian styled one that i bought in Harvard Square a while back) and have summed up the highlights for you below:
- Elin doesn’t care about the dollar amount of her settlement (rumored in the $100 million neighborhood) stating, “Money can’t buy happiness…or put a family back together.” Later in the article she shares, “Money doesn’t make you happy, but I have to be honest: It is making some things easier.”
- Elin had absolutely no clue that Tiger was cheating on her because “For the last 3 1/2 years while this was going on…I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children, then my school.” The news was a complete shock. (that’s what she said…)
- Elin insists she did not come after Tiger with a golf club when he crashed into that tree last Thanksgiving. That’s her story (and his) and they’re sticking to it.
- Elin grew up playing soccer in Sweden. That was the most rockin’ discovery of the interview. Go soccer chicks!!!
- Elin has a twin sister. (no comment…)
- Elin doesn’t like being in the spotlight
- Elin can apply her fantastic Psychology 101 (she’s working on her bachelor’s in psychology) stages of grief to her own life now- shock, anger, depression. She told People, “I am still working on the last stage, forgiveness and/or acceptance.”
- Her mom did not pass out from the stress of the rumors about her daughter and then husband back in December. She caught a stomach bug from Elin and Tiger’s son Charlie. Coupled with her history of low blood pressure, she fainted/collapsed.
- Elin is not running of to Sweden with her children because she loves America and it’s her home now. (sure, that had nothing to do with Tiger)
There you have it. Class dismissed!
Even though “Jon and Kate Plus 8” ended last year, Kate has been keeping fans hooked on the sizzurp known as those adorable Gosselin kiddies by doing these occasional specials on TLC. On Monday, August 30, 2010, TLC will air the latest “Kate Plus 8” episode where she takes the brood on a trip to NYC.
Kate and her 8 also made headlines this summer when they were taping for an episode of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” to air on TLC’s Discovery Channel. Jon has been keeping his name in the news, too, after a rumored parenting book that he has since denied plans to write…thank God!!!

I don’t typically watch “Dancing with the Stars” (DWTS) but the rumors of the upcoming season’s possible cast of crazies has me wondering if I should watch while the show sinks to the ranks of shows gone by like “I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of Here!” and “The Surreal Life.” In particular, I was surprised to read the “Jersey Shore” president of the NGA (No Grenades Allowed) “The Situation” (real name Mike Sorrentino), “The Hills” token brunette Audrina Patridge, rug munching comedienne (just jokes y’all!) Margaret Cho, desperately seeking a comeback Brandy, recently roasted David Hasselhoff, teen mom political pawn and spawn Bristol Palin, the woman who had 8 babies hoping to be famous Nadya “Octomom” Suleman, and the original dirty dancer Jennifer Grey.
The ABC show plans to formally announce the new cast for Season 11 on Monday, August 30, 2010 during “Bachelor Pad.” The season premiers on September 20.
Who would you like to see on DWTS?
If this were a 3-ring circus, who would be the ringmaster?
Preservation Hall benefit album commemorates the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina
Gulf Aid Remix Project Allows Fans to Remix the Track “It Ain’t My Fault.”
It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. On August 29th, 2005, the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of people was affected dramatically. It was the costliest natural disaster in American history and resulted in the loss of almost 2,000 lives. Over 80% of the city of New Orleans was flooded, and even after all this time, a significant number of the city’s residents remain displaced. This tragedy was recently compounded by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which affected the Louisiana coastline in addition to extending through the Southeast into Florida.
“PRESERVATION: An Album to Benefit Preservation Hall and The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program” was conceived by independent music distributor RED along with the MRI label group. With the proceeds from this album, RED and MRI have helped to restore and preserve the Preservation Hall venue in New Orleans, and have made it possible for the Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program to continue. The album is a warm and joyous celebration of New Orleans music, featuring over 20 of music’s most exciting artists, all performing with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The artists appearing on this project are Andrew Bird, Terence Blanchard, Pete Seeger, Dr. John, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Brandi Carlile, Cory Chisel, Ani DiFranco, Steve Earle, Merle Haggard, Richie Havens, Jason Isbell, Jim James, Angelique Kidjo, Amy LaVere, Anita Briem, Del McCoury, Buddy Miller, Paolo Nutini and Tom Waits.
A charity called The Gulf Relief Foundation has formed to give relief to citizens affected by the oil spill. Among it’s charitable efforts is the distribution of “It Ain’t My Fault,” a song recorded at the Preservation Hall venue and credited to the Gulf Aid All-Stars, a collective that includes The Preservation Hall Jazz Band along with New Orleans-based horn player Trombone Shorty, Oscar-winning actor/musician Tim Robbins, rapper/actor/musician Mos Def and Grammy-winning musician Lenny Kravitz. All proceeds from the download of this song on iTunes go directly to the Gulf Relief Foundation, and as a bonus, Gulf Aid is allowing fans and aspiring musicians to remix the song. If you go to the Gulf Aid Remix Site, you can grab the stems from “It Ain’t My Fault” and rework it however you’d like. You can go back to the site and upload your work once it’s finished, and fans will be able to vote on which remix is their favorite.
“PRESERVATION: An Album to Benefit Preservation Hall and The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program” is available at iTunes and Amazon.

It’s back to school time, and what better time to launch Glee‘s new clothing line exclusively at Macy’s stores and on Macys.com. The clothing can be found in the junior girls section and has a price point ranging from $19.99 to $34.99. I’ve posted a few of the looks in the image above, but I also read that the line includes a Cheerios uniform- although I did not find it online. At this time, the apparel is not available in young men’s looks, but perhaps we will see more looks that also cater to male gleeks in the future.
This past Sunday, an official launch was held at LA’s Beverly Center. According to Huffington Post, the launch was well attended by all ages and included cast members Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), Kevin McHale (Artie), and Heather Morris (Brittany).
