A few weeks before I spoke with Warren G, Vanity Fair had released an article “Q&A: Warren G Does Not Recommend Investing in Citigroup or the Crips” back on September 25, 2009. With an article title like that, there’s not much room for anything but stirring controversy, and that’s exactly what happened.
This year, VH1 Hip Hop Honors decided to recognize the contributions Russell Simmons’ record label Def Jam which is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year. Among the night’s performers was Warren G performed his classic track “Regulate” with Trey Songz. Sadly, Nate Dogg was not able to be in attendance as he continues his recovery from multiple strokes…
Back for its sixth year saluting the best in hip hop, VH1’s Hip Hop Honors 2009 will celebrate the achievements of one of hip hop’s greatest brands — Def Jam Records. The music event will tape from the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York, and air on VH1 on Tuesday, October 12 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
