Effie, played by Jennifer Holliday, pouring her heart out in song to her manager Curtis who’s ready to kick her to the curb in the musical “Dreamgirls.” Holliday brought down the house with this signature song “And I Am Telling You (I’m Not Going)” and also earned herself a Tony award for her performance in the original Broadway run in 1981.
If you’re truly into roots, rock, reggae the ones at the top of their game have been Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, and Gregory Isaacs. On October 25, 2010 the “Cool Ruler” Gregory Isaacs died of lung cancer at the tender age of 59. He had been battling the big “C” for a year before his death.
