Where HBO’s “Girls” lacks in storyline it more than makes up for it in shock value. Season 4, episode 1 was no exception. I had a total can’t unsee this moment when Marnie (Allison Williams) had her salad tossed by her current boy toy Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). I mean, I guess it was only appropriate that they were in the kitchen. 😯
When talking about shooting this scene for “Girls,” Ebon told MTV, “You’ve gotta have a good trust with your scene partner. Allison and I really like each other. I trust her and I think maybe she had to trust me more for that particular scene, but I think she does. It’s fun. It’s a comedy.”
The scene looked hella real, but Allison demystified the intimate moment in an interview with Entertainment Weekly by describing it as an “engineering achievement…it involved Spanx that we cut away and glued down and involved menstrual pads and two of those weird thongs.” She further explained in an interview with Vulture, that her goal to achieve the illusion was “to rig something invisible from the side but that feels like a pillow when he puts his face into it.”
It was hard enough to see Allison play the role of Peter Pan in “Peter Pan Live” that aired on NBC over the holidays with my impression of her singing skills poisoned by her character Marnie in “Girls” singing Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians “What I Am.”
And that, my friends, concludes this Ifelicious can’t unsee this moment.
