I stumbled upon Demetri Martin last year late at night on Comedy Central and had one of those moments where I was supposed to be falling asleep, but I couldn’t stop laughing instead. Demetri provided comic relief for me as well during a time when I was superly duperly hating my job. I would play something of his that I DVRed as I got dressed on Saturday afternoon to get me crunked up for the work weekend ahead. He did not disappoint.
I know humor is so vast and different people are drawn to different comedians, but if you’re not a fan, give him a listen and see if you likey. He caught me by surprise because I don’t think of myself liking what I would describe as college boy humor, but he just makes me laugh. His flip charts and drawings, the props he’s most notable for using, remind me of both days in academia and in Corporate America. If only my presentations could be so entertaining.
He’s landed a weekly show on Comedy Central in February of this year called Important Things with Demetri Martin. I haven’t seen it, but now that I bumped into one of many movies he’s been in tonight that prompted me to write this post, I’ll be sure to start watching.
The first thing I saw by Demetri was the stand-up routine that I believe was one of those Comedy Central Presents. Below is an excerpt from hulu.com. BTW, I’m so loving hulu.com, aren’t you?
Fan? Funny? Not so much?
Ok, y’all know by now that I don’t end a post without more links to check out. So here they are.
