I’m excited to confirm that I will be speaking with Leslie Jordan in a few weeks. Feel free to leave comments with any questions or just a comment to show Leslie some love.
We loved Leslie Jordan in his Emmy award winning performance (for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series-1998) as character Karen Walker’s nemesis Beverly Jordan on the hit comedy series Will and Grace. Now, with a memoir under his belt, Leslie is hitting the stage and takes us on My Trip Down The Pink Carpet. The book, by the same name, was published by Simon and Schuster and released in 2008. This stage play will serve as his book tour as Leslie brings many of his stories from growing up in Tennessee to his life in Hollywood.

LESLIE JORDAN’S ‘MY TRIP DOWN THE PINK CARPET’ TO PREMIERE APRIL 15 AT WESTSIDE THEATER (this article is a great read)
Performances will begin on Wednesday, April 15, [2009] with an official opening night set for Monday evening, April 20, [2009]. David Galligan directs the 6-week limited engagement.
A theatrical romp – from small-town USA to the pink carpet of Hollywood – My Trip Down The Pink Carpet tells the unlikely tale of one of America’s true gay icons. Raised in a conservative family in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Leslie – who describes himself as “the gayest man I know” – boarded a Greyhound bus bound for L.A. with $1,200 sewn into his underpants and never looked back.
Below is an interview with Leslie Jordan and about his book and upcoming stageplay that was done during NYC’s Gay Fest 2008, at a benefit for Harvey Milk High School (the interview feature on Leslie ends at 5:30 into video).
Here’s a YouTube clip of Leslie Jordan speaking right here in Columbus, OH at last year’s Columbus Pride 2008.
