That’s right y’all!!! JJ, Thelma, James, Florida, and the rest of the cast from the 70s classic TV show will be back, but this time on the silver screen! The cast to include Dave Chapelle as “JJ,” Loretta Divine as “Florida,” Delro Lindo as “James,” Beyonce as “Thelma,” Queen Latifah as “Willona.” Production is currently slated for Fall 2010 and filmmaker Maurice Jamal has been named as the director.
70s classic “Good Times” to be a movie. Cast includes Queen Latifah, Beyonce, Dave Chappelle and more!
I must say that The Ski Trip was a really good flick. Great, fun storyline with the classic independent film campy vibe. I’m the type that doesn’t need special effects make a story more interesting, rather, the story itself needs to be well conveyed to hold my attention. That’s how classics are still classics, right? I could watch Sydney Poitier in “A Raisin in the Sun” over and over and over again.
I didn’t want to pop this into my last post about this show because I already had so much stuff in there, but please peep the trailer. This show looks like it’s going to be good! The series will be on tv this Fall, however, Maurice is not spilling the beans regarding the network that has picked it up. I’ll be sure to post once he makes the announcement.
A while back I had a post called My Netflix Pick “Dirty Laundry” Was A Buried Treasure about a movie produced by the multi-talented Maurice Jamal. Well, he’s back with a new tv series that’s a spinoff of his first flick “Ski Trip”. I’m still trippin’ that “lip chap” VH-1’s Charm School winner Saaphyri is in it. I’ve been wondering what she’s been up to since the show (the finale was a kleenex moment…kind of embarassing considering the show…but if you saw it you know what i mean).
I hadn’t heard of the movie “Dirty Laundry,” but the short summary caught my eye.
