As soon as I saw the video and heard “What You Gonna Do” by UK electro rock band Capelle featuring Chicago artist Nitty DeFaunque, I knew I had to spread the word. The song instantly draws you in as it kicks off by sampling just a little of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s mega hip hop hit “Otis” and then rocks out to the gritty, sexy vocals of Nitty DeFaunque
Oh Kanye. He’s always pushing some boundary…there’s controversy over cover art for his new album due out November 22, 2010 “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”..you see above has been banned
With his mixtape “The First Flight” and countless other singles/remixes (Star Is Born, Point to Prove, Set Me Free) being recognized by fans, yet overlooked by major media outlets, it took the release of his remix to Drake’s, “Over” (Just The Beginning), that eventually got Daniel “Diggy” Simmons love shown by said outlets for being “the first” to drop something over the newly then released track. Although people were receptive of his remake of the new single, Diggy still had more hearts and ears to capture and win over, with the goal of letting everyone know that him creating music was not a hobby but a passion and it was something he is great at.
Thanks to all of you who joined me on Twitter in the smack talk as we watched the Grammys. It made watching that much more fun. I haven’t compared my picks to the actual winners list yet, but I know I shouldn’t be a betting gal. Last night was Team Beyonce and Team Taylor Swift. Beyonce broke the record for the most Grammys won by a female in, and Taylor…well, she writes her own music as if nobody else does. Seriously, Taylor took home 4 Grammys including Album of the Year. Kanye West, yet again, was in M.I.A. which we all can’t help but to attribute that to America’s 20 year old sweetheart, Taylor Swift.
