There’s a whole generation out there (mabye some of you reading this) who has never heard of Eartha Kitt or saw her appearances on sitcoms or her in concert over the years. With her signature sexy cat purr, Eartha was truly an icon in the entertainment arena. She brought sexiness to the screen at a time when sexy was not nearly a overt as it is today. Her song, “Santa Baby” is my favorite Christmas song and one of her many classics. Well, on Christmas day, the Lord called this Santa Baby home.
“Eartha Kitt, who purred and pounced her way across Broadway stages, recording studios and movie and television screens in a show-business career that lasted more than six decades, died on Thursday. She was 81 and lived in Connecticut.
The cause was colon cancer, said her longtime publicist, Andrew E. Freedman…”

I have a short interview I did with her at Ossie Davis funeral in 2005. I just found it and will post it this weekend. It’s hard to believe this women was 81- wow! I’m sure she would have lived to 125 if she didn’t have cancer. Cancer is NO JOKE! I know so many people who passed away from various types. RIP Eartha Kit!
