Premiering in early 2019 is writer-director Bruce Reisman’s latest feature film “As Long As I’m Famous.” The indie film pays homage to Broadway and Hollywood’s Golden Age where, unlike today’s social media driven world, privacy was not just implied, it was expected. As such, Hollywood and Broadway luminaries got away with legendary cocktail parties, behind-the-curtain betrayals, and even unlawful, forbidden love. Set in 1948 in New York City the story about the private lives of entertainment industry friends unfolds through the eyes of then unknown writer-director-actor Sidney (“Sid”) Lumet (who grew up to be an Oscar winning legend) during what he describes as “the summer I saw stars.”
TRAILER: “As Long As I’m Famous”
The cast includes Aaron Fors as Sid Lumet, Nicholas Luna as playwright/director of Broadway hits like “South Pacific” and “Annie Get Your Gun” Joshua Logan who is battling bipolar disorder, Camille Montgomery as Logan’s estranged wife Nedda Logan, Gavin Adams as screen legend Montgomery (“Monty”) Clift whose relationship with Lumet challenges his sexuality and the law, former “Baywatch” actor David Chokachi as heavyweight boxing champ turned aspiring actor Gene Tunney, and former “Caroline in the City” actor Eric Lutes as Richard Rodgers of the famous Broadway composer duo Rodgers and Hammerstein just to name a few

Reisman’s “As Long As I’m Famous” is inspired by his own interaction with Joshua Logan who served as a mentor and industry advisor to him between 1979 and 1987. The notion of privacy, a luxury afforded to none in current times, is the overarching theme in “As Long As I’m Famous” as the film brings sheds light on the very private lives, revealing romances, and mental breakdowns that were kept secret including those that Logan wrote about himself in his own books. “Nobody cared in those days. It was about the work of these artists, not what they did in their bedrooms, that mattered to the public and the press,” said Reisman

“As Long As I’m Famous” is produced by Reisman’s own Broadwood Media. The film will make a one night only premiere at a charity event in late February in Los Angeles with plans of hitting the festival circuit and a limited theater release thereafter.
