‘Far Away’ singer Tyga visits Gardenia High school with his R.O.A.R. youth empowerment campaign

I absolutely love “Far Away” by Tyga featuring “American Idol” top 10 finalist from season 6, Chris Richardson (download on iTunes and Amazon).  The heartbreak storyline strikes a chord with me personally but not as literally as the lyrics are presented.  Anyway, just like Tyga’s music has moved me through hard times, he is planning to visit Gardenia High School, his own former high school, that was the sight of an accidental shooting on January 18, 2011 that injured 2 students.  A 17 year old student was illegally carrying a firearm on school property when it inadvertently went off.  This is part of Tyga’s own youth outreach program called Tyga R.O.A.R. (Reaches Out And Represents).

Gardena High School in Gardena, California of Los Angeles County suffered a tremendous loss earlier this year when a gun man opened fire on campus (CORRECTIONS by Ifelicious in purple) a fellow student who brought a gun to school that accidentally went off, causing disarray to helpless teens and faculty; nine months later, Gardena High is still working to move pass the tragedy.

Hip-Hop recording artist Michael “Tyga” Stevenson of Young Money/Cash Money hopes to bring encouragement to the students of Gardena High School as he visits the high school on October 20, 2011. A former student of Gardena High School in 2004-2005, Tyga’s heart went out to those affected by the January 18 shootings. With a positive message, Tyga’s comes equipped with “Tyga R.O.A.R. – Tyga Reaches Out And Represents,” a youth education empowerment campaign a once in a lifetime opportunity to underprivileged and economically challenged youth.

Currently on tour with mega-star’s Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland and T-Pain as an opening act for Chris Brown’s FAME tour, Tyga will visit Gardena High School and give them the unadulterated truth about the focus and determination that it really takes to accomplish their goals, as well as address the importance of education, anti-drug, anti-violence, and achievement despite the challenges.

Tyga is fresh off of his first headlined tour, BET’s 106 & Park Closer To My Dream, where he was accompanied by Diggy Simmons, Young Money label mate Lil Twist, Mindless Behavior, Jawan Harris, and Trevante. While on the FAME tour, Tyga’s goal is to physically touch the lives of the youth by making stops to schools in visiting states, in an effort to provide excitement and positivity into their lives, assuring them that there are artists that appreciate their support. Tyga was also added talent on Diddy Dirty Money’s tour in 2010.

With his lead single “Far Away,” featuring Chris Richardson, on Billboard’s Top 100, selling over 121,000 copies, Tyga’s “Careless World” album is set to release on November 19, 2011. In 2011, Tyga was (GRAMMY) nominated for “Best Rap Collaboration” (in 2011) for “Deuces” featuring Chris Brown and Kevin McCall, off of Chris and Tyga’s “Fan of Fan” mix-tape.
